BRAD TRUMAN

FOR SHARPSBURG BOROUGH COUNCIL

Brad Truman, a Pittsburgh native, attended nearby Deer Lakes Highschool and, in 2008, graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. With his nine-to-five hat on, he is a Business/Data Analyst for Direct Energy – where he has worked since 2012.

Once the work day concludes, however, Brad wears many hats. He’s a music lover, a non-fiction reader, a cyclist, a snowboarder, and a home renovation enthusiast (not to be confused with home renovation expert). Brad has been a member of the Sharpsburg community since early 2018 and, after having been selected to fill a vacated council seat in late 2019, is currently the Zoning, Planning and Code chair on the Sharpsburg Borough Council.

Brad believes that it is through involvement in the community that a personal sense of ownership takes form, and that it is that sense of ownership that breeds pride and action. This, in a nutshell, describes Brad’s own evolution of civic participation and, thereby, his path to his current Council seat. He considers community involvement and engagement to be a vital component of a healthy, inclusive and representative community.

Brad is an enthusiastic proponent of all things equitable, inclusive and forward-thinking here in Sharpsburg.
